The Energy Storage Investment Awards – brought to you by the publishers of Energy Storage Report – recognises and celebrates outstanding achievements in energy storage development, investment and finance in the renewable sector.

This awards programme is the benchmark for excellence, raising the profile of winners and contributing to the overall growth and reputation of the energy storage industry. The gala is a spectacular showcase of achievement, uniting key players, influencers, and decision-makers for an evening of recognition, networking and knowledge exchange.

Developer of the Year Award

Developer of the Year

This award recognises a developer creating impactful energy storage investment projects and making them a reality over the past 12 months.

EPC Contractor of the Year

EPC Contractor of the Year

This award celebrates an outstanding Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractor that has demonstrated industry-leading excellence in the delivery of energy storage projects over the past year. 

Financial Advisor of the Year

Financial Adviser of the Year

The award will be presented to the financial adviser showing the strongest evidence of financial innovation on transactions and/or advisory work in relation to energy storage investment.

Insurance Advisor of the Year

Insurance Adviser of the Year

This award will be presented to an exceptional advisory firm, insurance company or insurance broker that is setting the benchmark for excellence in insurance and risk management in the energy storage sector.

Investment Manager of the Year Award

Investment Manager of the Year

This award recognises an exceptional investment manager who has played a defining role in accelerating the global energy transition through leadership in energy storage

Please note: The Investment Manager of the Year award recognises an entity that invests, or predominately invests, capital owned by other entities. 

Investor of the Year

Investor of the Year

This award will be presented to an investor that can provide the most compelling evidence of an energy storage investment strategy being successfully implemented in the deployment of equity. 

Please note: The 'Investor of the Year' award (Group A) recognises an entity that puts capital they own into an asset.

Legal Adviser of the Year

Law Firm of the Year

The award will be presented to the law firm showing the most extensive knowledge, expertise, and dedication to energy storage investment across transactions and/or advisory work. 

Lender of the Year

Lender of the Year

This award will be presented to the banking institution that provides the most compelling evidence of a lending strategy for global energy storage projects being implemented.

Optimiser of the Year

Optimiser of the Year

This award will be presented to the company that has delivered the best BESS optimisation performance for clients in the last year.

Start-Up of the Year

Start-Up of the Year

This award celebrates a commercially operational, impactful technology or advisory led start-up company that is enabling and unlocking rapid future energy storage sector growth.

Technical Adviser of the Year

Technical Adviser of the Year

The award will be presented to the technical adviser showing the strongest evidence of innovative technical advice on energy storage transactions and/or advisory work.

Equity Deal of the Year

Equity Deal of the Year

This award recognises companies that closed or advised on a sensational equity deal involving an energy storage project.

M&A Deal of the Year

M&A Deal of the Year

This award will recognise a defining merger, acquisition, or strategic investment from the last 12 months that set the pace for the energy storage sector. 

Project Finance Deal of the Year - Advisers

Project Finance Deal of the Year - Advisers

Celebrating commercially significant standalone or co-located energy storage project finance deals that have demonstrably moved the industry forward over the past 12 months.  This year we have split this category into three separate awards to better showcase the role played by developers, investors, or advisors.

Project Finance Deal of the Year - Lenders

This award recognises a company that has successfully led, developed and closed an innovative M&A deal in the UK or European Union that has significantly contributed to the advancement of the energy storage sector. This year we have split this category into three separate awards to better showcase the role played by developers, investors, or advisors.  

Technical Innovation of the Year

Technical Innovation of the Year

Recognising the technology innovators that are introducing fresh thinking and innovation to the energy storage market and, in doing so, are extracting more value from batteries and other energy storage assets and enabling the market to unlock future efficiencies. 

Safety Innovation of the Year

Safety Innovation of the Year

This award will recognise a standout innovation that is reshaping how the issue of safety is addressed in the energy storage sector. This award celebrates a best-in-class technology, product, or system that elevates safety from a basic requirement to a strategic advantage, in doing so protecting assets, people, and communities while accelerating confidence in energy storage deployment.

Lawyer of the Year Award

Lawyer of the Year Award

This award recognises an individual lawyer whose legal skills have made an outstanding contribution to the energy storage sector. 

Outstanding Achievement Award

Outstanding Achievement

This award recognised a senior industry executive or long-standing representative of the energy storage industry (still working in the sector) who has a career-long track record of leading major advancements in the industry.

Rising Star of the Year

Rising Star of the Year

Recognising professionals with more than 2 years of experience within energy storage and less than 7 years of professional experience more generally.  This award recognises an individual who is achieving great results and in doing so, are demonstrably moving the industry forward.

Project of the Year Co-Located

Project of the Year Co-Located

This award recognises developers that have successfully brought a hybrid project to the market, specifically an energy storage asset combined with a renewables generation project, such as a solar or wind farm, for example, or are responsible for such a project in development/construction that has reached a final investment decision. The winning project should ideally demonstrate the accomplished handling of a high level of development complexity and sophistication. 

Project of the Year Long-Duration

Project of the Year Long-Duration

This award recognises developers that have successfully brought a long-duration energy storage project to the market, or are responsible for such a project in development/construction that has reached a final investment decision. The winning project should ideally demonstrate the accomplished handling of a high level of innovation and/or development complexity and sophistication. 

Project of the Year - Standalone

Project of the Year - Standalone

This award recognises developers that have successfully brought a standalone storage project to the market, specifically an energy storage that is not directly connected to a power generating asset or are responsible for such a project in development/construction that has reached a final investment decision. The winning project should ideally demonstrate the accomplished handling of a high level of development complexity and sophistication. 

C&I Project of the Year

C&I Project of the Year

This award recognises developers that have successfully brought a hybrid project to the market, specifically an energy storage asset combined with a renewables generation project, such as a solar or wind farm, for example, or are responsible for such a project in development/construction that has reached a final investment decision. The winning project should ideally demonstrate the accomplished handling of a high level of development complexity and sophistication.

Entry Fees

  • Registering to enter on our awards platform is free. Entry fees are settled when the entries are submitted.
  • If you register to enter by the 12th June, the entry fee is just £200 + VAT per entry. Otherwise, if you register to enter from 13th June, entry fees will be charged at £350 + VAT per entry.
  • Please note that Tamarindo clients and members benefit from some free entries. Please enquire for full details.

 

Rules

  • Entries should relate to work undertaken between 1st August 2025 to 31st July 2026.
  • Entry questions vary depending on your chosen category, please take care when filling out the questions on each entry form. If the information provided is not relevant to the information requested, judges may, at their discretion, score the question with 0 points, or your entry may not be judged altogether.
  • Please ensure you read our terms and conditions before submitting an entry.

EARLY REGISTRATION OFFER

There is an awards entry submission fee per entry with an Early bird and standard pricing:

  • 13th April – 12th June; Early Bird entry fees (£200 + VAT per entry)
  • 13th June – 24th July; Standard entry fees (£350 + VAT per entry)

Judges will read and score entry forms considering any supporting materials provided. Judges will give a score for each question within the entry form. These combined, will give an overall score to each entry. All judges’ scores for each entry will then be combined, and only the highest scoring entries will determine the shortlists. Judges will e-meet to discuss the highest scoring entries and then agree on the winner for each category. Judges may, at their discretion, award a high commendation on each category.

When considering a new judge, our criteria is:

  • Have substantial business experience
  • Have a reputation in the industry
  • Have specific skills
  • Have a good network

Judging Process

Categories will be judged by a small group of judges and they’ll be assigned based on judges’ expertise and always avoiding any conflicts of interest. Judges will read and score their allocated entry forms, considering any supporting materials submitted. Judges will be asked to give a score for each question within the entry form. These will be combined to give an overall score for each entry. All judges’ scores will then be combined, and only the highest-scoring entries will determine the shortlists. Judges will e-meet to discuss the highest-scoring entries and then agree on the winner for each category. Judges may, at their discretion, award a high commendation on each category.

The shortlists will be announced on Tuesday 1st September. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony on Wednesday 11th November.

Confidentiality & Impartiality

To ensure that our awards are impartial, ethical, and transparent, we require any invited individual who has been nominated as a judge, to sign Tamarindo’s Judging Charter, the key requirements of which are outlined below:

  • Respect the comments and feedback of other judges and engage in the process comprehensively, from the outset
  • Declare any conflicts of interest immediately
  • Dedicate sufficient time to reading, judging and scoring the entries
  • Delete all judging materials and marks immediately after the judging period
  • Don’t allow personal relationships or experiences to influence judging
  • Keep judging discussions confidential and contained only to the judging panel
  • Don’t share confidential material, judging papers or entries with anyone
  • Don’t notify anyone that they have won or that they are shortlisted ahead of the official announcements
  • Don’t give any feedback to entrants as to why they have not won or were not shortlisted – all requests for feedback must be directed to Tamarindo
  • Champion and celebrate the awards programme
